About AI and Speech Recognition: Are Elderly Care Workers Properly Dressed for Artificial Intelligence?

In this article, we take a closer look at the new technological solutions that are making their way into municipal welfare, and focus on both opportunities and challenges. The article discusses the ethical and strategic considerations facing management and politicians, and gives an insight into the innovative projects that Resonans has helped support.

Artificial intelligence is running at full speed on many levels in our society. The trend has also hit the municipal welfare machine. For example, the elderly area is testing and applying various AI solutions for effective route planning and monitoring of the elderly to avoid falls in nursing homes.

For the past year, I have closely followed developments in the area of the elderly's use of speech recognition and text classification to strengthen documentation, knowledge sharing and professional quality for citizens in elderly care. And I've been surprised along the way, as I expected greater skepticism about the new technology among employees – maybe it's just an expression that the technology makes really good professional sense?

“However, I have doubts about whether employees are critical enough in relation to the new technology? Who can really predict the long-term consequences of using AI? And are the public organizations and political and administrative managements well dressed enough to take up the dialogue of both concern and enthusiasm with employees?” - Anne-Mette Scheibel
